FairEmail

This dummy web page only exists to provide a valid host name for the SMTP EHLO/HELO command.

The host name dummy.faircode.eu is used to protect your privacy by avoiding using your local IP address. There is no email server at this address. FairEmail will never send messages via third-party servers.

Some SMTP servers, like the Gmail SMTP server, reported here, still include the IP address you are sending from, instead of resolving the host name dummy.faircode.eu.

Received: from dummy.faircode.eu (4-3-2-1.ftth.glasoperator.nl. [1.2.3.4])
by smtp.gmail.com with ESMTPSA id xxx.77.2023.11.08.10.31.02

Unfortunately, this is something FairEmail can't prevent.

If desired, the EHLO/HELO host name can be changed in the advanced identity settings (via 'Manual setup and account options' in the main settings page). An option would be to use the domain name of the email address, but not all email servers will accept this. Alternatively, you can enable the advanced identity option 'Use local IP address instead of host name', but not all email servers will accept this either.
